Dear colleagues, it is a sad duty for me to announce that Prof. RNDr. Jiří Vávra, DrSc., recipient of the WFP Distinguished Achievement Award in 2018, passed away on 1 October 2018. Prof. RNDr. Jiří Vávra, DrSc. was a biologist by soul, parasitologist by profession, protistologist and microscopist by heart and will be dearly missed.
